Man City Thrash Chelsea 4-0 in FA Cup Fourth Round
Mahrez, Alvarez, Foden, and Bernardo Silva on Target for the Citizens
Manchester City advanced to the FA Cup quarter-finals with a 4-0 victory over Chelsea on Sunday, piling more pressure on Blues manager Graham Potter.
Riyad Mahrez broke the deadlock in the 23rd minute with a cool finish after good work from Kevin De Bruyne. Julian Alvarez doubled the lead just before half-time with a clinical strike from a tight angle. Phil Foden made it 3-0 in the 80th minute with a close-range effort after being teed up by Jack Grealish.
Bernardo Silva added the icing on the cake in the 85th minute with a left-footed strike from outside the area. The victory was City's second over Chelsea in four days, after they also won 2-0 in the Premier League on Thursday.
The result leaves Potter's Chelsea side in a perilous position, with the Blues now winless in their last seven matches. They face a tough trip to Tottenham in the Premier League on Sunday, before traveling to Borussia Dortmund for the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie next week.
For City, the win keeps them on course for a potential quadruple. They are already through to the Carabao Cup final, where they will face Manchester United, and are favorites to retain their Premier League title. They also face RB Leipzig in the Champions League last 16.
