Sterling and Agüero Shine as City Dominate Etihad Clash
Aguero Continues Goal-Scoring Streak with Hat-Trick
Manchester City returned to the top of the Premier League with a dominant 6-0 win over Chelsea at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, February 10, 2019.
Sergio Aguero was the star of the show, scoring his second hat-trick in eight days. The Argentine striker opened the scoring in the 13th minute and added two more in the 19th and 56th minutes, the latter coming from the penalty spot.
Raheem Sterling also impressed with a brace of his own, scoring in the 4th and 80th minutes. Ilkay Gündogan scored the other goal for City in the 25th minute.
The victory was a crucial one for City, who had dropped points in their previous two league games. It also marked the first time that City had kept a clean sheet in four games.
Chelsea, on the other hand, had no answer to City's attacking prowess. The Blues have now lost three of their last four Premier League games and are in danger of falling out of the top four.
The win was also a testament to the incredible form of Manchester City under Pep Guardiola. SinceLosing against Chelsea and Brighton in May 2021, City have only lost one of their last 68 Premier League games when they have scored the first goal.
